Mirror Mirror ~ Would you cultivate a relationship with your rapist?

Introspection — what better way to start a week.

Question: Would you cultivate a relationship with your rapist?

Seems like a very unlikely relationship to cultivate, right? Maybe even absurd to ask. But I can tell you this — people who come through incest do it all the time!

Struggling to keep cool under the pressure of being forced to sit next to an abuser at a holiday table is absurd!

Time and time again I have heard stories of children being forced to stay in relationship with people that hurt them. Why? If a grandfather, mother, aunt, uncle or any family member sexually abuses a child – remove that relationship from your life and the life of that child. To do less is a deep injustice and keeps harm alive.

With the holidays coming, please remember to ask yourself this question: Would you cultivate a relationship with your rapist?

Your answer should be an emphatic NO. It doesn’t matter if it is family. People who choose to hurt innocent children need to be treated differently. They’ve lost their freedom. Don’t give it to them.

Protect the innocent. Protect yourself!
