Jewels, Gems & Gunpowder

I would love to hear from you! Sharing Saturday with you.

Jewel: Murder – it is the end of all things this side of eternity. I wonder sometimes if my father hadn’t taken the life of that woman in 1968, where she might be today. I wonder what song she’d be listening to — what tune her guitar would play. Everything was taken from her that day: her right to choose, her hope — her destiny.

Maybe her destiny was to be in that room. Maybe her hope had waned to the point of despair. Maybe she had nothing left to give.

I’ll never know the answers to these questions, but I do know this: everything ended for her that day in June, 1968.

If you are breathing today — you have hope. If you are still living, you have choice. Use it all wisely – don’t let the pain overtake you.

Gem: I am thankful to be alive.

Metaphorical Gunpowder: I have the courage to tell myself I’m doing okay. Actually, I’m better than okay. I’ve come a long way baby! And, there are still mountains to climb and valleys to traverse through.

Leave your jewel, a gem or something you kept yourself free from with metaphorical gunpowder.

Happy Saturday!
