A Thanksgiving Prayer

Father, I come before you today and pray for your people. I pray for each heart that finds the holidays overwhelmingly sad. Increase their joy in a way that only you can.

I pray that they would find strength in your armor, so that they can stand against the devil’s schemes.

I pray that their eyes would be open to see the real battle. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

I pray for each one of them that they would learn to put on your full armor, so they can stand.

Teach them, Father, how to stand firmly in place with your belt of truth buckled around their waist.

Righteousness and peace be at their table.

I pray that you would increase their faith so that the flaming arrows of the evil one would be extinguished and no weapon formed against them could stand.

For it is our helmet of salvation that keeps us safe.

Finally, Lord, teach them the power of the sword of your Spirit, which is the word of God.

Bless them! Each one of them.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
