One thing clouds do is move water around the earth. At night, clouds reflect heat back to the surface and keep it warmer. During the day, clouds can shade us from the sun and keep Earth cooler.
The thing that clouds always do is move.
The older I get, the more I accept the frailty of being human. I will never walk this earth the way I deeply intend to, because – well, I am human.
What I will keep doing until I leave earth is continue to move. Live deeper. Stretch into things I don’t understand. Speak boldly and love more.
It is true that, for what may feel like an eternity, abusers have the upper hand. While I was kept away and outside of my family of origin because I spoke the truth, I suffered silently alone. And then it occurred to me one day — I was indeed free of them.
I didn’t have guilt any more for sitting at a holiday table surrounded with people who cared about me. I didn’t need their constant disapproval and I left their shame behind. As I’ve witnessed each of our lives, I see that my growth far surpasses those I left.
They are stuck in the valley of misery. They are forced to feed off the lies and manipulation that surrounds them. They do not trust each other and gluttony of all things is their comfort.
As we move into the holiday season, be on your guard to keep your heart safe. You do not need people who treat you poorly, lie to you and do not uphold your experiences.
Keep moving. Get father down the road and enjoy your freedom.
Here’s to the coming holiday season!
