A Little Lamb

Vulnerable, shaky and trusting these little guys come into the world. At the birth of all things vulnerability is present.

What does being vulnerable mean?

It means “the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.”

We have no choice as children about that raw, exposed state we find ourselves in, just as a small lamb has no choice about it’s vulnerability.

Mean, abusive parents use that vulnerability to their benefit. It’s easy for them to take what they want from you and dish out whatever ugliness they can heap upon you. People don’t like to believe that someone would so severely injury their own flesh and blood, but they do. They do it every day – around the world.

At the cost of a small, innocent child a hurting, cruel adult is unleashing their misery on to the vulnerable. These pedophiles leak their ugliness onto children. They know what they’re doing is wrong – they simply don’t care. If they cared, they couldn’t do it in the first place.

Here’s the problem with your trust and vulnerability being violated when you are a tiny child by the people who were meant to protect you – it’s not easy to return to that state of innocence and trust, if ever.

We can heal. We can deliver a life that has been led by God into greatness. And, still at the base of our being, there is a scared little girl hoping she won’t be injured again.

It’s my job now to protect her. I want to gift her the courage to learn and listen to kindhearted people. Belief that good does exist in such a fallen world.

Just as a little lamb needs protection, so do I.

Relying on God has to begin all over again everyday as if nothing had yet been done.
