Jewel: I am not the darkness I came through. As we heal and retell our stories, it seems like the darkness is a persuasive constant. Healing takes you through some very dark places. I am reminded that I don’t have to camp there – a visit through to expunge the ugliness is the only reason I return.

I am not the darkness I came through. I went back to learn it wasn’t me.

Gem: Knowing God’s love deeper, stronger – connecting to the current that comes directly from the thorn of God.

Ephesians 3:19: 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Metaphorical Gunpowder: Forgiving my body for what seemed like its betrayal to me. It stored my hurts in a way that was so strong I simply could not deny the force of its recall. It made my body feel and look ugly to me. I’m releasing love towards all those particles and cells that did everything they could to keep me safe. Today, I speak a hearty thank you to my body for seeing me through.
