Jewel: Amnesty. “What does that mean,” I asked the Lord. I grabbed my phone and searched the word.
Amnesty (from the Greek ἀμνηστία amnestia, “forgetfulness, passing over”) is defined as “A pardon extended by the government to a group or class of people, usually for a political offense; the act of a sovereign power officially forgiving certain classes of people who are subject to trial but have not yet been convicted.” An amnesty constitutes more than a pardon, in so much as it obliterates all legal remembrance of the offense.

It is the “deliberate overlooking of past offenses,” from amnēstós “forgotten.”
I heard the Lord tell me to offer abusers “no amnesty.” When I looked the word up, I fully understand why.
When we deliberately overlook past offenses without acknowledging them or if we acknowledge them and then quickly offer a full pardon to our abusers – here’s what happens:
The abusers DO NOT CHANGE.
The cycles of abuse are not broken but continue forward and other children will be hurt.
There is no accountability for the abuser when amnesty is given. They walk scot-free to harm others.
Gem: Humans have the propensity to walk with an air of denial. Denial helps remove suffering momentarily.
When we “forgiven and forget” these atrocities done to harm us and the harm done to our children, the abuse cycle is never broken.
Amnesty is different than forgiveness. You never forgive and forget. That would be foolishness.
Metaphorical Gunpowder: I break the lie over each abuse victim now in the name of Jesus. Walk free. You are free to tell your testimony. You are free to tell your story.
You are more than free to hold your abuser (those pedophiles that hide) 100% accountable. If not for you, do it for the other victims that will follow you.
Let God deal with the abuser. You walk into freedom and tell your story! It is the only way to defeat this enemy.
