Freedom, what is freedom? Freedom is defined as the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
I love that! It is beyond refreshing.
The power to act, speak and think as you want? I was not raised that way.
Jesus said, “He [the Spirit of the Lord] has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” I’ve read that verse and loved it for years.
I have never really looked at the word freedom. The power to act, speak and think as you want without hinderance or restraint. That is simply beautiful!
I know that dysfunctional families do not allow you to act, speak or think as you wish. Rather, you are forced to act, think and speak as they dictate. When you leave them, it’s hard to shed their bullshit and find your own way of thinking, your own way of talking and acting out the way you choose – right or wrong.
Freedom doesn’t, in fact, mention right or wrong does it? It simply states that you can, without restraint, act, speak and think the way you want.
Doesn’t the world even tell you how to think, act and speak?
I call bullshit on that, too!
Can you image if we all sat in room together and allowed each other freedom? That would mean that each of us would get to speak the words we choose, our own thoughts would be allowed and it would be ok. Heaven forbid – we’d get to act whatever way we wanted.
Seems alarming to think about, right?
Our minds want to start changing that, controlling it somehow so that people are palatable to each other. But, that truly isn’t what freedom represents.
Oh, I love the thought it – FREEDOM!
